SWITCHED AT BIRTH returns to the ABC Family tonight with a new episode called, “The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living.” On tonight’s show Bay is intimidated when she meets a cool, confident Army medic. Did you watch last week’s episode? If you missed it we have a full and detailed recap here for you enjoyment.
On last week’s episode Daphne had a cochlear implant, and doesn’t know American Sign Language. Having been spoiled by her parents to make up for the switch, she was manipulative and not the best student. Bay, on the other hand, was a straight-A student, often trying to compensate for being the Kennishes’ non-biological daughter. In addition, Kathryn was a successful author of bodice-ripping novels and, while still married to State Senator John Kennish, their marriage was far from perfect.
On tonight’s show In “The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living,” Daphne is torn between her obligation to her family and her desire to spend time with Jace. John must face the reality of his situation. Angelo offers to help Regina bring in business. Meanwhile, Bay is intimidated when she meets a cool, confident Army medic (guest star Allison Scagliotti, “Warehouse 13”) who served with Ty in Afghanistan.
Tonight’s episode is going to be the usual great episode and you won’t want to miss it, so be sure to tune in for our live coverage of the show tonight at 8 PM EST! While you wait for our recap hit the comments and let us know how excited you are about the return of “Switched At Birth.”

Everyone is finding out about John’s heart attack. Daphne came onto the scene of shattered glass and overturned chairs while Bae was about to lose her virginity to Ty. Yet when they each received the emergency call they rush to John’s side.
The scare frightens the whole family more than they know. Technically it was only a minor heart attack but he was still advised to take it easy. Which of course he ignores along with the healthier meal plan Daphne created for him. He has to pretend everything is ok. He wouldn’t want his fellow senators much less constituents to know too much stress sent him to the hospital. That’s why when his enemy and fellow senator Chip, the jerk that hit on Kathryn, propositions him for a baseball game; John agrees.
Daphne is trying to keep a close eye on John at the office but can’t reveal why. Especially not to Jace who thinks she’s using her dad as an excuse not to hang out with him. After Bae goes to Daphne for help about Ty, she asks about Jace. Bae doesn’t want Daphne to give up just yet and advises her to find a way.
She does. She invites Jace to hang out at the house. One little problem with that. Jace doesn’t agree with John’s politics and the two end up in a heated debate on healthcare of all things. Daphne quickly puts an end to it but her worries make Jace suspicious so she admits to the truth behind John’s “flu” story. Jace understands and even offers to show her CPR to make her feel better that is until John walks in on them. John is angry she told this guy the truth but he gets angrier when Daphne let it slip Jace has a blog.
Bae’s romance is finding a fork in the road. She meets Ty’ army buddies including Aidia. Everyone else is drinking yet neither she nor Ty tell anyone she’s underage. The story is she prefers lemonade. Hearing what Ty experienced overseas is hard yet hearing how he slept with Aidia means the chances of the couple sleeping together have significantly been lowered. Bae calls Regina to come get her from this get together from hell.
Admist all the Kennishes’ drama, there is Regina. Her trial is finishing up at work and she’s asked to help bring in business. She goes to Angelo for help with his new “contacts” and he offers to help her. But the lady he was supposed to introduce doesn’t make an appearance; he came to the salon instead. Regina tried to play down knowing him but after her boss reveals a crush on Angelo, Regina becomes upset. She also may have risked her job with using Angelo. It’s time to create some distance. Regina decides to move out.
Daphne walks in John pushing himself in a workout. She’s upset that he’s ignoring doctor’s order and he’s upset when she treats him as an invalid. Later Kathryn calls John out on his behavior. He has to decide to whether be seen as a tough senator or the guy that gets to stay with his family in for the next ten years. He chooses his family.
John releases a statement about his heart attack and has decided to eat tofu with soy cheese breakfast that Daphne made for him. Now the only thing that can cause him anymore worries would be if Toby tells him he’s been thinking about going to college instead working at the car wash. Toby realized Travis would be better at the job and he’s also regretting skipping university. But he doesn’t tell his dad. Toby doesn’t want to hurt him.
Bae and Ty are talking again. She understands the past that happened while they weren’t together shouldn’t matter. The episode ends with Bae giving Ty her V-card.
