A teacher from the United States named Mary Katherine Letourneau born January 30, 1962, entered a plea of guilty to two charges of felony second-degree rape of a child in 1997.
The youngster was Vili Fualaau, who had been her sixth-grade pupil at an elementary school in Burien, Washington, when they had their first sexual encounters when she was 12 years old.
