Who is Holly Holm?

Holly Holm is an American MMA fighter who currently competes in the UFC.

Previously, she was a multiple-time world champion in Boxing. She was also the UFC Bantamweight champion making her the only fighter to hold a UFC and world boxing title.

It was her cardio-kickboxing trainer, Mike Winkeljohn who recognized her potential as a fighter.

After an amateur kickboxing record of 6–0–2, she turned to Boxing and made her debut in January 2002.

Her boxing record is 33-2-3. As a boxer, she won both the WBF Female World Light Welterweight and the World Welterweight Titles. She is an 18-time world champion.

After a loss on December 2, 2011, she fought Anne Sophie Mathis again on June 15, 2012, for the WBF female, WBAN welterweight, and IBA female titles. Holm won by unanimous decision.

UFC

On July 10, 2014, Holmes signed a UFC contract for five fights. Five days later, on July 15, 2015, she marked her debut UFC fight with a win over Marion Reneau.

On November 14, 2015, Holly faced the reigning UFC women’s bantamweight champion and legend, Ronda Rousey.

Holly Holm entered the fight as a massive underdog as Rousey had the reputation of being the best UFC Woman fighter of all time.

However, against the odds, she knocked out Rousey in the second round with a high kick ending her undefeated streak and three-year reign as the UFC champion.

In her first fight after being crowned the champion, she lost to Miesha Tate in the fifth round at UFC 196. On February 11, 2017, Holly faced Germaine de Randamie at UFC 208 for the women’s featherweight championship. Unfortunately, she lost via unanimous decision.

On July 6, 2019, Holly Holm faced Amanda Nunes for the Women’s bantamweight championship but lost via technical knockout in round one. on January 18, 2020, at UFC 246, she faced Raquel Pennington and won via unanimous decision.

In the post-match interview, she claimed that it was intentional of her opponent.

The majority of UFC fans also agreed and she appealed to the New York State Athletic Commission to review the decisions and determine an “appropriate result.” However, on February 28, the commission denied the appeal.
